I forget this ish exists, note to the world: Buzznet is so 07, blogspot is 08. I need to get on that. Link soon to come.
I was in New York City this weekend and I saw my friends band play to a sold out crowd at the Highline Ballroom. INSANE! I mean...Amy Winehouse played there....this shit is legit, man. www.oldspringspike.com, check it.

November 20, 2007ummmm
I was completely reminded about Buzznet today when a co-worker asked if I had one, and you know what? I couldn't remember. Loser points to me.
Obviously I've either been a) too busy or b) completely forgetting about this site in internet land. It's a bit of both actually. I'm thinking about hopping on the blogspot bandwagon, hmmm, whatchu think? It's not you buzznet, it's me. I'm not loving the whole emo whore-fest going on. Give me my Ryan Adams & Wilco and leave me aloneeee scene crazies. Currently: trying to kick ass at school because someone is trying to move to NYC this upcoming summer. Well speaking of NYC, my brother and I are doing a proper sibling vacation the beginning of January. We have never just taken a vacation together, and I'm thinking it's needed right now. It's snowing out right now, say what!? Dammit, I have no cool blogspot name. I better brainstorm.

July 22, 2007Finished.
Just finished the new Harry Potter. Not bad considering I started yesterday morning.
It's perfect, all of it. The beginning, middle, the end...it all fits. Read it, you'll love it immensely.

July 10, 2007even hotter than the nyc weather.
You know your friends are cool when : they are featured on the front page of NYMAG.COM!
http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2007/07/spring_awakening_star_goes_ind.html Sexxxxxy, yes, the many x's were well deserved in this case. That rules. I am so busy I have no real time for a buzznet update. The only good Live Earth performance that I caught on TV was The Police. Discussion over.

June 27, 2007Party like a rockstarrr.
Oof. Tired to the max. I keep meaning to put up pictures from my NYC week, but I've been so busy that I probably won't get to do it till my day off tomorrow. Until then, I can do a recap via journal entry:
-Tuesday: Went to see Company on Broadway. AMAZING! Front row orchestra seat, I was so close you could hear the actors singing even if they didn't have a mic. It closes this Sunday so if you are in the NYC area you honestly should snag a ticket here. The actors double as the orchestra so even when they are singing and acting, they carry their instruments with them, it's a really cool concept. Then afterwards I jetted over to what might be my new fave hangout spot, Angels & Kings. Had some sa-weeet hangs with Erica, Jessica, Jiscilla, Jesse Mack & crew. Trainwreck Tuesdays are totally the new black. Duh. -Wednesday: Shopped. A lot. Oy, my debit card was hurting. -Thursday: Hung out with college friends and stuff. Totally found the cutest italian restaurant on Christopher St. w/ my friend Aly that served AMAZING food. I love finding little hole in the wall places in the city. -Friday: I took my friend Amber, who has never seen a musical in her life, to SPRING AWAKENING. It was so amazing. I am seriously so proud of that cast, they rock it out every single night. I had to get up insanely early to get student rush tickets that day, but it was worth it. We had second row on the left side and could see everything so clearly. Afterwards we hung out at the stagedoor and talked to some of the actors, who are all so incredibly humble and sweet. They are all adorable and took the time to talk to every kid out there, which is a real rarity at shows. I introduced Amber to Johnny and we had a ridiculous music talk - apparently he knows all of Midtown as well? Well...he knows Gabe, I think he said he hasn't met Rob. Hilarious how like everyone in NYC is connected to each other, seriously. Too funny. He asked if I knew Jeff....fuck I forget his last name but yeah, everyone in the city literally is just connected without realizing it. Thennnn I went to Erica Are I's birfday bash at A&K! Totally ridic in the best way possible. Had a total flipout over Joy Divison with Ultragrrrl, good to see people reppin the Ian Curtis love. I think The All-American Rejects or Jesse Mack stole my camera at one point 'cause I have pictures of them on there that I didn't take...interesting. Saturday - Yeah, ok. I saw Spring Awakening again. Shhh. I had an on-stage seat and it was intense. The actors sat in the seating too so I had them all around me, it was really cool. You could feel the vibrations in your chair when the actors would rock out during the dance numbers. During certain songs random cast members would stand up next to me and just start singing, it was crazy. I could hear them harmonizing without the microphones, like I said - amazing. They have this amazing billboard they just put up at the theatre that's totally hot, if that doesn't sell tickets I don't know what will. Afterwards I jetted out to Brooklyn and chilled at Erica & Jessica's. Participated in some CRAZY wii tennis action and decided I really have to practice to step up my wii game. Team awesome is going down. Rooftop scattegories might just be my new favorite pasttime. And yesterday, I went to see Morrissey. Only five songs into his set he fucking walked off stage and then they said he "lost his voice" so the show got cancelled. If I don't get a refund, ticketmaster/livenation is going DOWN. However, I did buy the new Ryan Adams - and I had major flipouts, I'm in love with it. I think it's a return to his Heartbreaker days, so I back it fully. Yikes, this was long. Props to you if you read all this.

June 15, 2007viva la vacation.
It's the weekend! Hoorah. I work tonight and tomorrow, then I have a WEEK off. You might be asking yourself, "Michelle, what the heck are you going to do with all that free time?" Oh...I shall tell you because I'm cool like that.
Sunday - My cousin Alison is having her grad party. I LOVE my family. We all work hard, but we PARTY hard. I'm looking forward to good food and rounds of playing beirut. Monday - I'm going to NYC! I'll be getting in at 6:30ish. Probably going out to dinner and having a low key night w/ my friends. Tuesday - Shopping. I have some serious thrifting to do in Brooklyn and I can hear cheap $5 sunglasses calling my name on Canal St. Then I THINK I'm going to see Company on Broadway that night, because it's closing July 1st and the whole concept of the actors doubling as the orchestra onstage intrigues me, not gonna lie. Afterwards I mayyy stop by A&K for Trainwreck Tuesdays because it's only 2 blocks from my friends apartment. Convenient, right? Wednesday - Spring Awakening matinee show @ 2pm! I am psyched to the max. Hang with friends the rest of the day. Thursday - Free day. I don't really know what I'm doing yet, I MIGHT go to the MET or the Whitney because I'm a museum nerd, we shall see. I really want to go see Shakespeare in the Park because they are doing Romeo & Juliet, but apparently you have to line up early and I don't want to waste half my day just waiting in line. Friday - ERICA ARE I'S BIRFDAY BASHHH. I am either seeing Spring Awakening again that night or Saturday matinee, haven't decided yet. Probablyyyy Saturday though. I am a nerd, but I am so into the music from it that I probably would kick myself if I only saw it once while I'm in the city. Saturday - Margaritas & mexican food w/ some of my SVA college friends. Yum! Sunday - Home to Massachusetts! So basically, if you are in the city, come hang out. I have an extra ticket for Spring Awakening any of those days, if people wanna come with, the tickets are only $26. And Ericaaa, bring some Lurk Hard pins for mee to your bash, because I think mine got lost in the mail. :( Yikes, this was long. That's what happens when you have a jam packed week.

June 9, 2007easy, tiger.
The new Ryan Adams leaked. I decided I don't want to hear any of it until an actual hard copy is in my hands, but I'm excited. The thought that there are new songs out there makes me psyched.
SHAMELESS PLUG WARNING: You should ALL watch the Tony Awards tomorrow night on CBS at oh, say about 10:25pm. ;) My sources indicate SOME killer show is going to be performing then. Not only that, they spent $200,000 on this one performance, so tune in. I don't care if you want to watch The Sopranos finale - that is what they invented TiVo for. (Besides that show is so overhyped, Entourage & Six Feet Under rule!) Support good theatre, watch the Tonys. //End plug here. So I saw "Knocked Up" last night and pretty much it was super hilarious. I loved how almost the entire cast of "Freaks & Geeks" was in it. I loooooooooved that show when it was around, it's definitely in my top 3 of all-time. During previews there was one for a movie with Michael Cera coming out. A whole MOVIE with George-Michael Bluth? Count me in. I'm pretty excited for that movie with John Krasinski that's coming out too...that man is my serious crush. He's funny & smart - those are my weaknesses for dudes. Let's just sigh over him with a picture while I'm at it... ![]() *Sigh* Ok, I'm good. I can't end this entry any better than that...

May 30, 2007holiday weekends r00l
Mmm, I love holiday/birthday weekends. That's the awesome thing about having a late-May birthday, sometimes it usually falls around Memorial Day...or ON it occasionally, so it feels like four days of partying and hangz non-stop.
Saturday: -Went to Boston! -Saw KT Tunstall & Guster. Free concerts at the Hatchshell rock. -The crazy insane mass of people didn't rule however, I hate HUGE crowds like that. -My best friends parents took my bff & I out to dinner in the North End. Best italian food ever. Srsly. My bff's birthday is the day after mine, weird coincidence right? I'm a year and a day older, hahah. -Vanilla cake martinis, 'nuff said. So goooooood. Vanilla vodka + triple sec + pineapple juice. It definitely tasted JUST like cake. Sunday: -Worked the easiest shift of my life. I love when we get like no customers in the store. It makes my 5 hours go by. Monday: -Memorial Day parade! My dad is an elected official in the town, so he marched and passed out candy to the little kids along the route. It was cute. Then when he got to my brother and I, he had everyone pelt us with candy. Not so cute. -I got proposed to, by a four year old boy scout. He came up to me with a paper flower and handed it to me. This seriously marks like the fourth time I've been proposed to by a little kid, they seem to love me. If only they were like 20 years older, this would be a cool kind of problem to have. It was cute though, he told me it was for me because "you're pretty." Dudes take note: little boys know how to compliment better than grown dudes. -My bff came over and we literally played Wii for hours. I am addicted to the tennis and bowling. No one has beat me at bowling yet. We also discovered fishing on the Zelda game and I'm growing addicted to it, so much fun! My brother bought Pan's Labyrinth and I've been meaning to see it FOR-EV-ER, so I think I'll go watch that now. I still haven't seen Pirates 3, I'm holding off. Keith Richards + Johnny Depp blows my mind. By the way - Spiderman 3: The beginning ruled, the ending ruled...the middle was whack. It was entertaining at least, but Tobey needs to never attempt to dance in a movie again. PS: If you are good at naming websites, help me come up w/ a new name for mine. I pretty much am going to re-vamp it entirely, because we're going to be covering way more bands that don't fit in that scene/pop-punk genre because I don't listen to much of it these days. I'm thinking something catchy, like pitchfork media, you may hate them but the name sticks. Or Stereogum, they are great too. Bah, I suck at naming things. Somone hire me a marketing person, hahah.

May 25, 2007THEY SAY IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY...
Well, I say it's my birthday...because it is!
I'm 22, my friends have already made about 5 jokes asking when I want my cane....things are looking good. I have my party hat on all day, and have been drinking out of a champagne glass. Classy even early in the morning, that's just how I roll. My brother and I are currently in the middle of a dance-off to Blondie, if I can somehow tape this - I shall. You probably all need to see the awkwardly insane awesomeness of my family. I think I need to give a "Cribs" style tour of my household, there are too many random things in this house that amuse me. And now I'm going to go make my vegan ice cream cake. YAY FOR 90 DEGREE WEATHER. PLUG OF THE DAY: www.myspace.com/jessemalin HAVE YOU HEARD THIS MAN? I AM IN LOVE. Totally didn't know it's the same dude who fronted The Heart Attack (a super old 80's New York hardcore band for those who don't match my musical knowledge). He's friends w/ Ryan Adams - 'nuff said.

May 17, 2007i officially hate the CW network.
Veronica Mars: officially cancelled.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070517/ap_en_tv/tv_new_season Rob Thomas even said they pretty much have been told to find new jobs. I'm sad that good, smart TV shows (hellooooo Freaks & Geeks, anyone?) always get canned and the crap always stays on the air. I don't know what you people in the general television watching public are viewing, but stop. Obviously it's all junk if TV shows w/ strong female characters and great plotlines like this keep getting cancelled. I'm totally going to stage a revolt at CW headquarters. Who's with me? The thing that makes me most angry is we don't get a series finale. They shot the last episode with a very open-ended storyline so we don't get a proper sendoff. I NEED TO KNOW HOW LOGAN&VERONICA ENDS AHHHH.

May 10, 2007in the summertiiiiimeWhile all you crazy kids are nursing your Bamboozle sunburns, I just sat outside reading for 2 hours and I'm STILL pale. WTF? Better you than me I guess... I could be the next Casper in a movie or something. On the other hand, I finished "The Kite Runner" and it was tres super. Go read it. Secondly, this post is dedicated to Jessica Are I because I just HAD to share this with someone. So one of my friends is in this wickedly awesome musical on Broadway and since it's "awards season" all these celebs have been coming by to catch the show, um well look who showed up this week:
AMERICA FERRERA (AKA UGLY BETTY) SUP? (Um serious apologies to any lurkers I have, I know this photo sucks...blame broadway.com). That's my friend John on the far left, holy awesome. I know Zach Braff was there awhile ago too, which rules. While I'm on the subject, they just got named Best Musical by the NY Drama Critics award that they give out. Hollur. And now I'm gonna go make a killer smoothie and sit outside practicing my bass since I have lessons tonight. Sickk, brah. Right? OH PS: WHY IS BOB DYLAN COMING TO MASS. THE SAME DAY I'M SEEING MORRISSEY? The world is cruel. Heads up btw, 3 super small Brand New shows just got announced for NYC in 2 weeks. Lurk 'em.

May 4, 2007you vandalFirst order of business: I'm sorry but that new FBR band, The Cab - overrated. Maybe I am just older, but I don't listen to much pop-punk anymore. It has all started to blur together and the new bands just sound like re-hashes of the older bands (like Saves the Day, The Get Up Kids, etc.) who were doing it MUCH better to begin with. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Speaking of Saves the Day...HOLY EARGASMS BATMAN! Seriously. They were amazing. I am a Say Anything fan, but I got to say that STD stole the show and played the best set last night, hands down. They opened with Chris Conley playing "Three Mile Down" accoustic by himself then the whole band came on when he was done. It was beautiful. I love the fact that I just walked in when doors opened and there weren't many kids there, so I just walked right up and grabbed a nice spot 2nd row center. By the time STD came on it was pretty full, since the show at Avalon did in fact sell out. Obviously, nothing will ever beat when I got to see Chris play solo acoustic at the small little ICC Church hall in Allston, MA this past November - but it was still a pretty good set by them. I wish they'd played a little more off Through Being Cool & Can't Slow Down - but I do like the newer stuff too. The new song they played sounds sooooo good. I am pretty stoked on it. Anways, the best part of the night was probably after the show. I have pretty much the greatest collection of random events/moments that have occured in my life. But I'm pretty sure that hanging out with a VERY drunk Chris Conley of Saves the Day at midnight on the streets of Boston has got to go in my top 10. Chris was wastedddd. He is probably my favorite dude ever. It was too funny - Chris, one of my friends and myself were all wearing the same hoodie. We've coined ourselves Team Triple Hoodie, pretty hot stuff. New album in September apparently. Then new album in 2008, so when you combine those two with Sound The Alarm, which they just released last year - Chris said it's going to be a trilogy of albums. They are all going to be interconnected, that makes me super excited. I love that man. I don't think anyone else's songs can make me feel infinite and super happy like Saves the Day. I'm gushing again, but whatever, they will always be my favorite. PS: As my friends and I went to leave Chris gave us HUGE bear hugs and was like "Thank you guys SO much for coming and singing all the words so loudly. It really means so much to me." I mean honestly, no other band makes themselves so accessable or treats their fans so well, I gurantee it. I don't see any other acts shaking everyone hands in the front row and thanking them for coming...STD are a class act. Like I said, favorite dude for life. There's a reason I've had a crush on him since I was 15, haha. I can't wait for fall tour like he said they'd be doing. I will NEVER give up on that band.

May 2, 2007hallelujah hollaback.First off, WarGames is on tv. There is nothing more awesome than Matthew Broderick films from the 80's...just sayin'. Tomorrow: I am off to Boston to see Saves the Day & Say Anything! Super stoked. I hate taking the T though, I'll be real honest - I think the T is like the most confusing subway system ever. I don't hate Boston, but eh - it's ok. New York is pretty much a billion times better than Boston, minus it's sports teams. Anyways, I'm so excited to be seeing Saves the Day. I'm not quite sure anyone loves them as much as I do. STD's songs are like summer, fall and all that other good stuff that makes you feel good. I've pretty much been crushing on Chris Conley since I was 16. The man is my hero. When I interviewed him at Warped over the summer, I was soooo nervous all day. My hands were shaking and my stomach was in knots. Then, when it was time to interview him, he came out and shook my hand and pretty much instantly made me feel relaxed in about 10 seconds. Just the sweetest, nicest, most chill guy ever. It's rare you really meet people in bands who are just that gracious and amazing these days. I don't even know why I was so scared to talk to him in the first place. Hahaha. It's weird STD & SA are playing together again because the first time I ever saw them was at CMJ weekend 2004 at SOB's. Ohhhh snap.
*sigh* See what I mean? Swooon city... ^^ I'm thinking some serious afternoon shopping at H&M and Urban Outfitters on Newbury Street is needed. PS: Veronica Mars was bonkers last night. I don't even have words for it.

April 28, 2007"by the power of greyskull!"Um, you should all go see Hot Fuzz. It makes me love Simon Pegg even more, as if that were even humanly possible...
Sooo funny. I can't even add to this journal, I'm still laughing from too many scenes. There is nothing I love more than blood, guts, blowing shit up and zombies. British comedies might just be the best thing ever. I feel like watching my complete series dvd of the BBC version of The Office, but I have to go to work in an hour. Sadness. FYI: I have never seen an episode of Lost, Grey's Anatomy, The Office (American version), America's Next Top Model or Desperate Housewives. Maybe I am sheltered, I don't really watch TV.

April 13, 2007so jealous. So one of my good friends Erica works at a CD store in Toronto, Canada...and guess who freakin' came into her work today? MICHAEL CERA - aka GEORGE MICHAEL BLUTH! Ahhhhhh, I am tres jealous. I would have become super fan and asked him to quote some of my fave AD lines for me.
Amazing story #2: I definitely helped a transvestite pick out cute high heels at work on Wednesday. It is amazing moments like this that make up my life. Thank you. *bows*

April 12, 2007i said no, no, noOk ok, crazy music post about to commence. First off, I was looking through my parents cds yesterday and my father owns every Talking Heads, Blondie, Tom Waits & Clash cd produced. Even all solo projects related to those bands. Listen to your parents, they have awesome taste and you might not even know it! Secondly, has anyone else heard Amy Winehouse? I LOVE her. She is like a soulful Lily Allen, kinda. Her songs remind me of old school motown music, I am totally hooked on her album. Go download it or buy it...whatever you do, just listen to it. Current favorite tracks: "Rehab" & "Me & Mr. Jones" - I mean honestly, anyone who namedrops Slick Rick in a song gets my vote. I MAY be interviewing Say Anything in a few weeks when they play in Boston. It's not set in stone yet, but I will at least have a photo pass to take pictures of their set thanks to the lovely people at Vagrant Records. Super nice people, super sweet label. Bright Eyes is playing a couple of nights at Town Hall at the exact same time I'll be in NYC..hmm, tempting. I haven't listened to the new record yet. I've heard mixed things. Oh yeah, check out www.myspace.com/gregoryandthehawk - I really love her voice. It's one girl playing all the instruments and singing, very cool. I might be interviewing her soon as well, since G&TH have a full-length coming out next month. Hotttt. Super excited for the new Wilco, Feist, Charlotte Gainsbourg & Ryan Adams cds coming out soon.

April 6, 2007Yo kids. So, you internerds....I need YOUR help. I have a website, and pretty much I'm thinking a namechange for my .com is needed. I've been interviewing/photographing bands for about 5 years, since I was in high school, and I think it's time a cool, snazzy name was utilized. Originally, I didn't want to put "[my name].com" 'cause my last name isn't spelt like you say it - so that would be confusing and most people wouldn't get the address right. So, I used a lame nickname my friends gave me but I'm pretty tired of it. Brainstorm for me kids, anyone got suggestions? Something cool so I can be the next pitchforkmedia.com only WAY less pretentious. ;) Hahahah. But no seriously, something that will stick in peoples heads...and nothing cliche and emo sounding like "Bleeding Heartz" or that, people really do name websites that...and they suck more because of it. So yeah, something neat...think pitchforkmedia.com or like ohmyrockness.com - lemme know! I'm terrible at naming things. :-/
This is totally for Erica & Jessica since I was going thru SUPER old pics on my site:
Monty Are I...aka MONTY'S FAN CLUB. Feb 2004. Old school suckas. I totally remember when they'd close every show with their Bon Jovi cover...
